ChaBooCha Lite 2017 #ChaBooCha #ChaBooChaLite

Today is the first day of ChaBooCha Lite 2017!

ChaBooCha Lite is another chance to write an early reader, chapter book, middle grade book or YA novel within a month. The premise is the same as the premise of March's Chapter Book Challenge. (The Lite challenge will have less prizes and less guest blog posts.) You will still be trying to write your book during the 30 days of the month, but instead of running in March, ChaBooCha Lite runs in September.

It's also completely acceptable for you to finish a book previously begun or to edit one you have already written, as long as you complete the work in September.

It's another chance to challenge yourself, and to give yourself a deadline for writing your book. Want to join us? Sign up here.

If you'd like to add this year's ChaBooCha Lite badge to your website or blog, right-click the shape of badge you'd like below and save it to your computer to add at your convenience.

Welcome to ChaBooCha 2016! #ChaBooCha

Welcome to this year's Chapter Book Challenge! We started back in 2012 with only 23 members but have grown to over 350 signed-up members this year. (I'm hoping we reach 400 before March is finished.)

For those of you who are new to the Chapter Book Challenge here's a little information about it:

The Chapter Book Challenge, otherwise known as ChaBooCha first ran in 2012. It runs every year in the month of March. The challenge is to write one completed first draft of an early reader, chapter book, middle grade book or YA novel in the month of March, starting on the 1st of March and finishing on the 31st of March.

During the month of March, there are helpful blog posts from published authors, agents and publishers to help members hone their craft, and there are prizes available throughout the challenge.
ChaBooCha has a very relaxed atmosphere where members help each other to achieve writing goals.

You can sign up on the website using the sign-up form, and you can also join the Facebook page for updates and information. There is a Twitter page and members interact with one another throughout the year in the Facebook group. It is completely free to join the Chapter Book Challenge.

We have a wonderful line up of authors, agents and experts in the field of writing who will be guest posting this month. I will have the list up a few days from now.

When you sign-up, you will begin receiving e-mails in your inbox every time a blog post goes up. You may unsubscribe from the e-mails, but, just so you know, the e-mails only go out during the month of March and will end when the challenge ends anyway.  If you signed up for the challenge in a previous year, you will remain signed up and do not need to sign up again.

You must be signed up in order to be eligible for the prizes. Signing up for the challenge carries an extra benefit this year; you will be entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire. One signed-up member will win a Kindle fire at the end of the month.

If you'd like to display a Chapter Book Challenge (or ChaBooCha) badge on your blog or website, you can grab them (in various sizes) from below.

Chapter Book Challenge 2013 Badges! #ChaBooCha

I know I'm cutting it close to the start of the challenge, but I have finally created a badge that I think (hope) you'll love for ChaBooCha 2013. It's not a tradtional style logo. I wanted this year's to be something special, something that showed a bit of the magic that we all hope to bring to children with the stories we write.

Credits (how it was made): I used some photo-manipulation with a photo I took and using a stock photo from and some of the work my husband has already done for his Fairy Magic Photos. But then I realized that having a bunch of magical fairies might be too girly for some of the made-for-boys ChaBooCha books, so I had to add some dragons. I found my dragons in the stock account of a talented DeviantArt artist named Demitri Levit who has an art account on DevaintArt under the username DElevit. I also needed to use a stone slab for the book to sit on and found one in a DeviantArt stock account by Luna-8.

I really hope you like the badges. The badge changes every year. I am posting it here in a few different sizes so you can choose the one that best works with your blog or website. You can find merchandise featuring this badge in the shop soon. At the time of this post, there is nothing in it yet, but I will be adding merchandise soon so check back in a few days to see what's available. (Profits from all purchases of Chapter Book Challenge merchandise goes towards funding the challenge, things like purchasing prizes and such.)

Please let me know what you think of the ChaBooCha badge. I hope you like it! (Click on the first link to see it in its full size.)
