There is a lot going on in the world today, much of which is depressing and/or stressful. We are living through a time full of corrupt politicians, a pandemic that endangers many of our loved ones and some of us as well, world financial crisis, and other worrying issues. How are we supposed to cope with all of the stress the world throws at us and continue to complete projects, go to work, take care of our loved ones, maintain our health and write stories?
It might seem like everything is just too much to take right now. But in troubled times, more than ever, this is when the world needs stories. We need to write stories because the act of writing helps us create something beautiful. And others need our stories to read because our stories can transport them to different worlds.
Writing, as I've said many times before, is magic. And right now, the world we live in and the people in this world need magic more than ever.
This is especially true when writing for children. Children need to see that no matter what trials our protagonists go through, they survive it and, usually, get a happy ending. They need our stories to escape into right now.
So I'm challenging each and every one of you to keep writing. Take your words and your imagination and create something beautiful, something fascinating, something entertaining and something profound for your readers to escape to and enjoy. You are capable of this, and you are the only one who can write your story.
